Eight years have passed, but in the end Davide Rossi, son of rocker Vasco Rossi, was declared innocent by the Court of Appeal of Rome. He had been accused of road injuries and failure to provide assistance during a collision which occurred in the capital on 16 September 2016. Also acquitted, because the fact does not exist, was his friend Simone Spadano who was with him at the time of the accident.
The sentence
The first instance sentence had given Davide Rossi a prison sentence of 1 year and ten months, but the Court of Appeal’s decision annulled it because the fact does not exist. Now it will be necessary to wait 90 days to find out the detailed reasons for the ruling, but it is certain that the driver was not the rocker’s son, but his friend Simone Spadano who nevertheless provided assistance, contrary to what had been previously claimed.

The accident
On September 16, 2016 Simone Spadano was driving through the streets of Rome with his friend Davide Rossi next to him. He had not respected a stop sign and consequently hit a Fiat Punto head on. Two girls, Francesca Morelli and Rosella Nicoletti, had suffered neck trauma and a rib fracture, both of which healed within about 40 days. After the accident, Spadano, contrary to what was claimed at first instance, had gotten out of the car to fill out the CID, i.e. the amicable assessment for road accidents without running away or not providing assistance.
