Lorenzo Lercara at Luino is the coup last summer that we almost couldn’t believe. A player of another category and of immense human depth, he said yes to the rossoblù cause and did not betray expectations, taking the team by the hand in the most delicate moment of the season and dragging it to the Lombardy Cup final. And it doesn’t matter if that penalty ended up high, his presence, his clarity, his personality and that fairy left foot helped the team to raise that trophy to the sky which is worth a dream and the passage to Promotion.
Then there are also the numbers: 16 goals overall between the two competitions (11 plus 5), many of rare beauty, just as many very heavy.
Lorenzo, how did the season go?
“After winning the Lombardy Cup we can say that we made it even more spectacular, but I’m happy regardless of how it went. We didn’t reach the playoffs, it’s true, but we fought until the last day in the championship, then the second round was incredible. Personally I’m happy, I’m only sorry about the injury that I suffered with the Nuova Abbiate and which affected my last two months, but for the rest I had a great time here in Luino, and I had few doubts about it, I adapted quite easily to this category that I did not knowthe fact remains that I became part of a great group, with 4/5 players who are Luino in all respects, they are the “old guard” and have made the difference, in December we found ourselves in a very difficult period, if we recovered it is above all thanks to them.”
Who would you give the Golden Ball to?
“I know that Matteo Piazza is among the candidates, and I know this because he is a great friend of mine, we have known each other all our lives, I don’t want to take anything away from the other candidates, but if I had to choose I would give it to him who had a great season“.
What was your best game of the season?
“I would say the Lombardy Cup quarter-final with Ardisci and Maslianico, it’s the match where I liked it the most“.
Who is your Idol?
“My idol has always been Kakà, let’s say that since he retired I’ve kept Messi, at least until he stops“.
If you won, who would you dedicate this award to?
“To the whole team, here in Luino there is a fantastic group and if I were to win it would be all thanks to them, they put me at ease from day one, we created a family“.
