Last night the search was still underway for at least two individuals who first stole a camper, then fled when the soldiers stopped and then also caused a road accident with two other vehicles involved.
The owners of the vehicle, a camper, are foreign citizens. As soon as they realized that their vehicle had disappeared, they asked for help from some passers-by who alerted 112. This is how some Carabinieri patrols intercepted the camper. The two subjects on board, however, not only ignored the halt, but also launched the vehicle in an attempt to outrun the patrols. A chase began which took the fugitives along Via Pantanelle with the Army patrols following them at a distance without losing sight of them. This is where the escape ended. In fact, in their mad rush, the thieves caused a road accident involving two other vehicles whose drivers and occupants had to be rescued by 118 personnel. At that point the thieves decided to abandon the camper and try to escape among the camps with some soldiers from the Aprilia territorial unit at their heels and others stopping to help the unfortunate.
Therefore, in addition to the 112 patrols, the local police officers of Aprilia also arrived on site and diverted traffic and made the area safe while the people involved in the accident were rescued, carried out investigations and assisted the military in the return of the camper to its legitimate owners. This is in fact the positive epilogue of the whole affair: the recovery of the vehicle thanks to the prompt response of the military directed by Lieutenant Colonel Paolo Guida who, as far as we know, are looking for the criminals who will be accused not only of theft, resistance to a public official, but at least also of failure to provide aid for having fled after the accident.
