“Agàpe” is the new album by Davide Prezzo – BlogSicilia

“Agàpe” is the second album by singer-songwriter and guitarist Davide Prezzo, released on Friday 3 May 2024 for Indaco Records and Needa Records, distributed by Altafonte. It is a concept album in which a journey is traced that retraces an entire existence. We start from the steps and words of a child, from childhood memories to get to first loves, dreams of revolution and a more mature age.

The album is divided into four phases, each told by three songs. The first phase is that of childhood and memories and is told by the songs “Nascere è come dying”, “Favole” and “Tre”. The second is the phase of youth and freedom represented by the tracks “How we are”, “Bobcat” and “Sorry”. Then comes the moment of love and revolution with the songs “Il campo” (the first ballad of the album), “La ballata di Paska”, the story of a Sardinian bandit, and “Al di trova delle cose”. The end of this journey, which actually represents a new beginning, is the “Agàpe” phase which is the achievement of universal love, the unconditional and pure one, with the songs “Agàpe”, “Occhi di mare” and It will be beautiful” It can be brotherly love, a friendship, love towards a son, a daughter, towards a man, a woman, a mother or a father. The love that regenerates, transforms, nourishes and does not take away.

“Agàpe” is an album full of personal stories and experiences which however touch on universal themes that go beyond one’s own experiences. We talk about being young parents and being children, we talk about struggles and revolution. There are stories of courage, of searching for one’s place in the world and the desire for freedom. Intimate songs to whisper to those you love alternate with songs to shout in the squares to make your voice heard.

The album was produced by Marco Sirio Pivetti and Davide Prezzo himself, mixed and recorded at the Metro rec in Riva del Garda (TN) and the master was edited by Mauro Andreolli. The sound is varied, the atmospheres can mostly be traced back to an alternative rock style, with many ambient sounds and some ballads that break up the narrative, leaving room for acoustic instruments and words. In addition to the main voice, the absolute protagonists are the string instruments, especially guitars, but we find some songs in which the electric bass takes center stage while always remaining at the service of the song. Many three-voice choral parts, electronic percussive sounds mix with acoustic drums.

The album opens and closes with songs dedicated to their children. “Being born is like dying” which opened the dance with the release in January and “Sarà bello” which closes the album with an optimistic and positive vision despite the uncertain future. It is the most intimate and delicate song on the album supported by a classical guitar, a violin, a cello and a warm voice, broken by the emotion that tells of the wait to meet the person who will change your life forever, in this case a daughter.
