The restoration work on the hills does not stop from the landslides which exactly one year ago, during the floods of May 2023, damaged the Cesena area, creating risky situations for residents, businesses and road users. Specifically, the structural interventions to restore the landslide in via Castello di Carpineta continue without interruption where, as happened in via Formignano and Montebellino, one of the most challenging construction sites is underway. Furthermore, work is also progressing in via Chiesa di Casale, which was affected by an instability which generated a lowering of the level of the “damaged” portion of the roadway by approximately 60/70 centimeters for a front of approximately 25 metres.
Also in this case, as planned in via Formignano, the following main interventions are underway: cleaning of the area affected by the landslide; excavation of the unstable area to create the work surface with filling with compacted sand; execution of a row of 40 drilled micropiles embedded in the underlying rocky substrate; construction of the guard ditch on the mountain side of the roadway useful for conveying rainwater towards the valley in place of the manhole cover created in 2017.
Also foreseen is the filling/sealing of the portion of the collapsed body, the arrangement of the valley slope with dismantling of the network of ropes and tie rods previously installed, reprofiling of the slope itself, installation of tie rods and containment ropes and wire mesh double twist.
In order to ensure full and safe execution of the intervention, starting from this morning in via Chiesa di Casale, in the stretch that extends in correspondence with the Rio Gulfarella, traffic will be regulated by a parking ban valid for the entire day and a one-way alternating with traffic lights or movieri. All changes will be indicated on site by appropriate direction signs and work in progress.
