The vehicle assigned to the barracks remained in Turin, probably blocked by some bureaucratic hitch, and therefore there is a risk of major delays in the interventions: beyond the first floor, external reinforcements are needed to be able to operate as best as possible.

When a fire breaks out in some building, the Varallo firefighters are therefore forced to ask for a “borrowed” vehicle from some other group. As recently happened, as reported by our colleagues at Notizia Oggi, in a fire that broke out in Scopello last February.
In reality, at least on paper, the ladder truck exists and is assigned to the Roccapietra barracks, but in reality it is not available as it is kept in Turin.
Intervention by trade unions
So the coordination of the basic trade union union (USB) wrote a letter to highlight the problem. For rescue operations on the upper floors, in fact, the firefighters use the ladder truck, but in Valsesia the vehicle in service in Vercelli must intervene as the one assigned to the Varallo barracks is not available.
