USB: over 50% of vehicles stopped in cities

For Usb, yesterday’s strike in local public transport was a successful national strike: «With the massive support we found in all the territories, we can say that it was fully shared by all the road and tram drivers. A 24-hour strike that as Usb Private Work we called to claim our platform for the renewal of the national labor contract “Wages, Security and Rights”.

Yesterday afternoon the grassroots union released the first numbers on membership: 60% in Rome with Metro A closed, 85% average membership in the provinces of Bologna and Ferrara, 70% in Brescia, 50% in Trieste, 60% in Gorizia , 70% in Venice, 90% in ATC Capri and cancellations and delays in Naples, 70% in the province of Perugia and 50% in Terni with the closure of the Minimetrò, 70% in Puglia, in Milan the M1, M2 and M3 metros were closed.

«Worthy of note – writes Usb – is the data for Sicily and Sardinia where, in a short time, we opened the regional structures of the TPL sector, experiencing an exponential growth in subscribers. We demand the real relaunch of public transport and rail and tram transport, a category that is experiencing a real job hemorrhage, the main victim of the massacre of wild privatizations, of the continuous recourse to contracts, subcontracts and subcontracting that fuel exploitation and precariousness, of negligible salary increases in exchange for the growing sell-off of rights and the succession of “farce” contract renewals that do not provide for the relaunch of the category”.
