Wednesday May 8th the Municipality of Montecorvino Rovella will title a road to Marco Mattiucciwho died in Sarno on 5 May 1998 during the catastrophic flood that brought the city to its knees.

Mattiucci, born in Osimo in 1968, joined the National Fire Brigade and was assigned to the Salerno Command. In this capacity came to the aid of the population of Sarno during the floodbut was overwhelmed by a landslide, he was seriously injured and died a few days later.

On 4 May 1999 he was awarded the Gold Medal for Civil Valor because with generous enthusiasm he had taken steps to evacuate numerous inhabitants from houses invaded by water and debris and had also saved a child in danger.

The event is scheduled for May 8th at 9.30am grouping of those present in Piazza Beato Giovanni with a parade from the Town Hall to the Middle School. A meeting will take place at 9.45am visit to the fire brigade vehicles which are on display at the school.
