A one year old baby is in very serious conditions after a car crash occurred in Alta Villa Intelvi, in the province of Como. The child’s father was driving and crashed the car into the guard rail of the provincial road 13, in the hamlet of Pellio Intelvi. The accident occurred yesterday, Sunday 5 May, around 5.20pm. The child is hospitalized in Bergamo hospital.

The dynamics of the accident

The little one, just one year old, was in the back seat of the car driven by his father, an Audi S3. For reasons yet to be clarified, the car went straight against the guardrail which delimits the roadway, destroying it. The impact was so violent that the roar of the accident was heard by residents of the area. Behind the father’s car, there was the child’s mother driving another vehicle.

The child appears to have had a cardiac arrestbut was revived by a Red Cross volunteer who, by pure chance, was traveling on the same road, provincial 13. After carrying out the first resuscitation maneuvers, the woman called for help. An ambulance from the Medical Cross of Milan from the Areu emergency and emergency service of the Intelvi Valley and a helicopter with resuscitation doctors arrived on the scene.

The conditions of the child and the father

Once stabilized, the child was transported by helicopter toBergamo hospital in code red. His father, a young resident of Cerano Intelvi, was also taken to hospital for treatment and to assess his fitness to drive.

In the accident no other vehicles were involved, but the road remained closed for about two hours, with traffic being diverted. The investigations from the police on how the accident occurred are still unclear in progress. According to initial reconstructions, it seems that the man driving the vehicle lost control of the car and caused the accident on his own.
