Democracy has won: Sony removes PSN requirement on Helldivers 2

In the end the strong pressure exerted by the fans of Helldivers 2 managed to have its effect, leading Sony to a sensational last minute about-turn on the PSN obligation.

A reverse seemed practically impossible, after the game had even been removed from over 100 countries and after even the creative director and CEO of Arrowhead seemed to have lost hope.

Evidently, something must have changed in the past few hours and Sony must have finally understood this he couldn’t risk it to kill what has so far been his first real success (you can find it on Amazon).

The news arrived a few moments ago via PlayStation’s X profile, which announces how the update with the requirement to connect a PSN account — which was supposed to leave today — it was eventually deleted:

“Fan of Helldivers — We’ve heard your feedback on updating account linking for Helldivers 2.

The May 6th updatewhich would require linking Steam and PlayStation Network accounts for new and current players starting May 30, it won’t go any further.

We’re still learning what’s best for PC gamers, and your feedback has been invaluable. We thank you again for your continued support at Helldivers 2 and we will keep you updated on our future plans.”

The update would have made it Helldivers 2 unplayable in over 100 countries, where it is not legally possible to register a PSN account: for this very reason, together with numerous doubts about the security of PlayStation Network, the majority of users did not look favorably on this update.

In the last few hours we have witnessed something similar to a “bloodbath”, with many negative reviews that have compromised the reputation of the game.

At this point it is plausible to imagine that users will soon change their reviews to positive ones and that the game will soon be back on sale in all other countries, but for the moment there is only one thing that is really important: the democracy of Helldivers 2 he triumphed once again, against all odds.

The “PSN case” has become so sensational that it has even pushed the authors of Ghost of Tsushima to clarify before the release, underlining that no account will be needed in single player.
