Castellaneta Marina: accident on the state road, two dead

Two died in the afternoon due to a collision between a lorry and a car for reasons to be detailed. In the accident, the lorry transporting apricots overturned, the car fell into an embankment and the two occupants died instantly: a 46-year-old born in Noci but resident in Mottola and a 45-year-old from Mottola. The driver of the truck, originally from Monopoli, was injured. It happened in the afternoon on state road 106 in the Castellaneta Marina area.

Below is a statement released by Renato Perrini, regional councilor of Puglia:

After yet another accident that occurred today on State Road 106, the stretch that has been affected by accidents several times over the years, leading to disasters in the news in the impact between several cars and, in many cases, leading to deaths of motorists , this afternoon I requested that the request for a hearing in the Transport Commission on this emergency be discussed. Faced with the escalation of deaths, it is therefore no longer deferrable to start a technical table to audit the Transport Councilor, Debora Ciliento; the Anas engineer Vincenzo Marzi; Autostrade per l’Italia Spa; the president of the Safe Roads Committee, Vanni Caragnano; the President of the province of Taranto, the mayors of the western side, to find joint solutions while waiting for the functional completion and safety of State Road 106. I reiterate once again the urgency of making the motorway section free for trucks concerning the Taranto area because some sections of state roads do not offer safety guarantees.
