Prato, 5 May 2024 – In the quiet of the mountain paths, where the steps blend with the silence of nature, the suggestive and fascinating 38th edition of the non-competitive walk “From Piazza to Piazza” took place. More than six hundred hiking enthusiasts joined this incredible adventure, giving life to an event that goes far beyond simple sporting practice, transforming itself into a unique experience of sharing and discovery.
The impressive logistical preparation, demonstrated by numbers that leave you breathless, was only the prelude to an unforgettable journey through the paths and breathtaking landscapes that characterize our beloved region. With over six hundred hard-boiled eggs, three hundred succulent sausages, sixty kilos of fragrant bread, as much pasta, and even one hundred kilos of delicious fruit salad and tarts, the energy and vitality of the participants were constantly supported during the two intense days of walking. But it wasn’t just the numbers that characterized this extraordinary event.
The “walk into the past”, as it was rightly defined, offered its participants the opportunity to completely immerse themselves in the history and beauty of our places. With a route that crossed 75 kilometers of roads and paths, with over 2400 meters of altitude difference in the first stage and another 1250 meters on the return, the walkers had the opportunity to experience authentic and intense emotions, flying over the source of the Bisenzio river and descending along its banks with respect and admiration. And so, with a slow but determined pace, the people of the walk reached the long-awaited goal in our splendid city of Prato, bringing with them not only the personal satisfaction of having completed a challenging route, but also the gratitude and respect for the beauty of the mountain and for the importance of preserving its silence and its majesty intact over time.
This extraordinary adventure was not just a physical journey, but an inner journey that enriched the soul of each participant, leaving an indelible imprint on their hearts and on the collective memory of this community of walkers.
