Once again a Kenyan athlete wins the Placentia Half Marathon: Timothy Kibet Kangogo he crossed the finish line with a time of one hour, one minute and 32 seconds. Daniele Meucci he took third place (1:05:06), breaking a taboo that had lasted for eleven years: an Italian hadn’t finished on the podium since 2013. Among women, the first is Italian Federica Sugamiele who crossed the finish line with a time of one hour, 13 minutes and 16 seconds: Italy had not been on the top step of the women’s podium since 2011. Among the registered athletes, there will also be some members of the City Council, the councilor Christian Fiazza and several representatives of the police force, including some student agents of the 225 course underway at the Piacenza Police School, policemen, Carabinieri, firefighters of the Fire Department, Guardia di Finanza, soldiers of the 2nd Engineer Regiment Pontieri of Piacenza which also this year contributes to the organization of the event and Municipal Police. The volunteer organization Andrea ei Corsari della Maratona will be present again this year with three boys pushed by a large group of Corsari in special wheelchairs; they will be joined by the Paratetraplegic Association of Piacenza with a group of five young people, completing the first ring up to Piazza Cavalli.

A fast route, re-approved by Fidal in 2023, which in the first 5 km stretch will cross some of the main streets of Piacenza, from the Bridgers’ Monument to the Public Passeggio, to arrive at Corso Vittorio Emanuele; after the first passage in Piazza Cavalli and in front of Palazzo Farnese, you will face a stretch of the Trebbia river embankment, then a series of long avenues to return to the Pubblico Passeggio, Corso Vittorio Emanuele and reach the finish line in Piazza Cavalli, where the official awards ceremony from 10.45am.

New this year is the PHM Relay: start, route and finish will be the same as those of the race, the difference is that the 21.097 km will be covered by two people. Organized thanks to the collaboration with Csi Piacenza, the PHM Staffetta aims to bring people closer to the world of road running with a more “affordable” initiative where the first runner will cover approximately 12 km and the second runner will cover approximately 8 km in a non-competitive manner. Then the appointment with the woman returns Pedibus mini-marathon, a traditional corollary event to the Placentia Half Marathon which involves state and private schools in the city and province, inviting families to accompany students and teachers. From 9pm on Saturday 4th May, until the end of the athletes’ passage on the morning of Sunday 5ththe parking ban with forced removal will be in force in the parking area of ​​via Maculani, in via Abbondanza, via Trebbiola, piazzetta S.
