Alice D’Amato won the gold medal on the uneven bars, confirming herself as European Champion on the stands after the seal signed twelve months ago in Antalya. The Italian played the Mameli Hymn at the Rimini Fair, after she had won silver around her neck in the individual general competition on Thursday evening. A clear triumph obtained with an excellent exercise (14,600), fighting back the tears for the injury that occurred to her twin Asia a couple of days ago.

Alice D’Amato expressed her satisfaction through federal channels: “I got on the parallel bars, I didn’t connect, but I tried to bring home the best exercise, done well, and I’m really happy. I reconfirmed the gold medal on the stands and at the moment I still can’t achieve it but I’m really excited, because when you’re at the top you have to know how to demonstrate that you’re always there and it’s the most difficult thing, I managed it and I’m really happy ”.

The 21-year-old from Genoa then continued:I want to dedicate this gold medal to my sister Asia because we promised ourselves that we would be able to win it again, so this medal goes to her. European Championship at home, lots of people, a warm audience: what remains of this experience is the beauty of the medals, but also the disappointment of Asia’s injury, which for me is one of the most important things. Tomorrow there is a team final and fingers crossed, I don’t want to say anything.”

Splendid double with Elisa Iorio: “Before getting on I admit that there was a bit of agitation, but it was that race anxiety, so it turns into the right adrenaline to give my best. I managed to do the exercise all together and I can’t be happier than this: there is certainly still a lot to work on and clean up, but I’m very happy. I would like to dedicate this medal first and foremost to my boyfriend Yumin Abbadini, to my parents and to my entire family.”

The 21-year-old from Emilia then concluded:After the final in Kitakyushu I hoped to be able to play another final, I finally succeeded after many years of sacrifices and above all after many injuries. Asia’s injury? There is a lot of regret because it is not nice to lose a teammate, especially a sister: I want to wish her the best of luck and I hope that she can return to compete with us as soon as possible. I also wanted to thank the Fiamme Oro family very much because it is also thanks to them that all this happened.”
