The appeal was rejected Animal rights party-Italexit for Italy, which had presented its lists for the European elections without signatures in the north-east and central constituencies. This was decided by the national electoral office at the Court of Cassation. The party had relied on the fact that the symbol contained a connection with the Dutch Partij voor de Dieren and the Germans Partei Mensch Umwelt Tierschutz. A connection apparently not considered sufficient by the Supreme Court to obtain exemption from the obligation to present 15 thousand signatures for each constituency.
The decision of the Supreme Court, therefore, excludes the Animalist Party-Italexit for Italy from the race for the European elections: the political force will not be present on the electoral ballots of the central and north-eastern constituencies. On the contrary, they have already been admitted by the Court of Appeal of Naples lists for the southern constituency.

However, the appeal presented by was accepted by the electoral office of the Supreme Court Popular alternative, whose list was therefore readmitted to participate in the European elections also in the Central Constituency. “It is important that order has been re-established – he commented Stefano Bandecchi, mayor of Terni and national secretary of Popular Alternative -. AP is the only one who has been saying for months that our list was legitimate, as we are accredited by the EPP. And so the AP entered the field because it was driven by the EPP. The law was very clear, I am pleased that yesterday the Court of Cassation confirmed what was said for the central district. I believe that the districts of Venice, Milan and Palermo will have to adapt to what Rome says.”
