Manila Esposito is taking the cover of the European Championships by force 2024 of women’s artistic gymnastics, enchanting the audience of the Rimini Fair and all Italian magnesium powder enthusiasts. The champion from Campania has in fact conquered the gold medal on beamafter two days ago it was imposed in the individual general competition.
If the 17-year-old had become the third Italian to win the full lap after Vanessa Ferrari in 2007 and Asia D’Amato in 2022, today the policewoman was able to bring the tricolor to the highest flagpole of the 10 cm podium for the first time in history! The best results in the past were the silvers of Carlotta Ferlito (Berlin 2011) and Manila herself, who last year in Antalya bowed only to the Dutch Sanne Wevers (Olympic Champion of Rio 2016).

Here comes the second personal gold in the same continental event for the girl from Torre Annunziata, a feat achieved only by Vanessa Ferrari seventeen years ago now (the girl from Brescia won the floor exercise and the full lap). Manila Esposito’s exercise was simply amazing: the acrobatic series behind it is splendid, the artistic part excellent, wonderful eleganceflawless output and overall score of 14.400 (6.1 D Score, 8.3 for execution).

The Italian had entered the final round with the best qualifying score, but Romanian Sabrina Maneca-Voinea was greatly feared from its bombastic starting note of 6.5. However, the new senior made a mistake on a complex acrobatic element and took a step back on the exit, thus finishing with a score of 14.166. The Frenchman Marine Boyer completed the podium (14.033), preceding the Romanian Lilia Cosman (13.500). Alice D’Amato showed up on the apparatus after triumphing on the uneven bars a few minutes earlier. The Genoese was a little tired and his exercise was not flawless, finishing in fifth place with a score of 13.266 (5.4 D Score).
