Fifty years ago for her wedding day the bride chose lily of the valley as her wedding flower.
It was May 1, 1974.
Half a century later, to renew the promises of that fateful “yes”, it was the lily of the valley that made the already unique atmosphere of Palazzo Gentili where Luana Valentini and Giovanni Ciriaci celebrated their birthday even more evocative. anniversary together with family, relatives and friends.
Last Wednesday, May 1st, they remembered the “wedding” they celebrated in the church in Frontale after having been engaged since they were very young.
Giving lilies of the valley as gifts on May 1st was a tradition: today, unfortunately, we have lost it almost completely, but it has very ancient roots. It dates back to 1561, when King Charles IX introduced the custom of giving a sprig of lily of the valley as a sign of good luck.
Thus, Luana and Giovanni Ciriaci wanted to recall her for their party which was… double! And yes, because in addition to the 50th wedding anniversary, they also remembered with a toast the 500th anniversary of Palazzo Gentili, a splendid architectural monument in the center of our extraordinary Piazza del Popolo. This too is another prestigious achievement for the Ciriaci family who own and manage it for outstanding hospitality.
