A violent storm in the late afternoon today (2 May) with hail and lightning in Borgo San Dalmazzo caused the fire of an Enel pole with a general electrical panel located in via Asti, causing a blackout in the entire neighborhood. The firefighters were immediately alerted and in these hours the electrical service technicians are working to restore the electricity.

A strong storm also hit the middle Varaita valley in the late afternoon, between Brossasco and Melle, causing flooding and damage. In Brossasco, a municipal road was closed and at least four small landslides were recorded, in addition to the flooding of a minor stream. The firefighters were called to intervene due to the flooding of some basements and the removal of material from the road. «It was a “water bomb” – explains the mayor Paolo Amorisco -, a storm that dumped an impressive quantity of water in the area between Brossasco and Melle in just over an hour. In addition to the firefighters, the intervention of civil protection and municipal staff was prompt, making the roads safe before accidents occurred. At the moment there are no isolated homes, but in the next few hours we will make a more accurate analysis of the situation.”
