Insects with their bright, iridescent, sometimes metallic colors and very varied shapes, have come to us unchanged for over 350 million years. With their curious appearance that often recalls primordial machines, they come in multiple species. They can be seen in very different shapes or sizes and often express in us humans feelings of annoyance or even fear or repulsion, but some also of great attraction due to their fantastic colours.
They were incorporated into amber, a fossil resin that originally appeared viscous, and thanks to the fossilization process, perfectly preserved specimens of ants, wasps, mosquitoes and beetles of various types with their practically iridescent colors have come down to us for over 90 million years. intact.
In their apparent fragility they have overcome catastrophes of all kinds, they have not changed over time because they have achieved that simple formal perfection that has distinguished them and for this very reason nature has always taken steps to respect them.
If we consider the fact that thanks to their simplicity of form they could face and overcome even a nuclear event unscathed, or almost unscathed, their fascination increases in me.
Since their anatomy is less complex than any other living being, they are less subject to mutations and also protected from any radiation, their molecular bonds would not be broken and no alterations would be created in the DNA.
All this created curiosity and fascination in me, giving me the opportunity to talk about them and tell them in this exhibition through the use of different materials such as iron, stone, pigments and paper, assembled together in my personal vision. creativity.
