More and more chaos reigns on the beaches and with the summer season upon us, worries are increasing. After the latest ruling by the Council of State which confirmed the expiry of the beach concessions on 31 December 2023, Legacoop Romagna has decided to ask for an urgent meeting with all parliamentarians elected in the area, so that they are activated in all locations to provide a clear regulatory framework very quickly. In fact, the risk is that there is “a competition for each beach, with different rules for each Municipality“. A scenario that is defined as “nightmarish” but “which risks materializing if the Government does not decide to urgently address the issue of concessions, with a political act that provides national guidelines for the entire sector” says Legacoop. The recent ruling of the Council of State “it put an end to a narrative that was as consolatory as it was fable-like: the highest level of the administrative judiciary has established that the beach resource is scarce, the tenders must be made, the exceptions are null and void. The king, essentially, is naked” goes on. According to Legacoop “it is not possible to place the burden of defining the tenders with the current rules and current allocations on the municipal administrations. The result would be unacceptable disparities from one location to another and unsustainable workloads for local authorities. Chaos, in short. The objective must be to protect a development of seaside tourism that defends the income of those who work on the beach and a model made up of family businesses that guarantee quality and services of the highest level“. Legacoop would like to avoid “another “sub judice” tourist season which compromises the survival prospects of a fundamental sector for our tourist offer. The damage is becoming more evident every day, starting with the ability to invest and redevelop companies“. “The tourist season is now open – concludes the note –. Those who come to the beach will be able to find, once again, an open, dynamic and welcoming organisation, made up of high quality services at fair prices, cleanliness and safety of the beach, made possible by our beach businesses and their cooperatives. The valorization of this system is an act of national responsibility that cannot be avoided“.
