Toni Venturato is a journalist, writer and Paralympic marathon runner. In a wheelchair he ran to win the gold medal in the New York marathon.
MOGLIANO VENETO – Friday 26 April, in the Social Center Hall, in Piazza Donatori di Sangue in Mogliano Veneto, the journalist and writer Toni Venturato presented his book “Never Give Up. Never give up”.
After a brief greeting from the Councilor for Culture and Vice Mayor Giorgio Copparoni, followed by the Councilor for Sport Enrico Maria Pavan, the following spoke in order: Ruggero Vilnai, President of the CIP Veneto Regional Committee, a leading figure in paralympic sport, and Mario Gigli , Vice President of the Millennials-Un Passo Avant association. Finally, the author, who revealed in detail the content of his work to those present in the room. Venturato retraced his story starting from 2011, when he was involved in a serious road accident which caused a spinal cord injury and paraesthesia in his legs. After several painful health vicissitudes, surgical interventions and an infinite series of physiotherapies, the stubborn Toni Venturato, also pushed by his wife to get up and react energetically to his situation, now disabled, after hard and tiring training, decided to participate in the Marathon of New York, a dream he realized in 2014 by winning the gold medal.
With morale now skyrocketing, the definitive rebirth of the man Toni Venturato occurred. In 2023 he then participated in another New York Marathon, winning that one too. He also participated in the one in Venice, from where he returned with a new gold medal around his neck. Thanks to his commitment towards children suffering from cancer, for whom he decided to donate all the proceeds from his book, the heroic Toni Venturato, now defined and officially recognized “marathon runner of hope” par excellence in the Paralympic sports world, and awarded for sporting and human merits, on November 5th, he will return to running for this cause.
