Post office blown up in Brugherio: work is underway on a temporary mobile structure

The safety works began in the hours immediately following the explosion. However, to date, the timeframe for the return to service of the Brugherio post office, in Piazza Papa Giovanni XIII, which in the night between 30 April 2024 and 1 May was blown up by criminals intent on removing the money contained inside the ATM.

The situation after the post office explosion

The Municipality took stock of the situation – as reported by colleagues from PrimaLamartesana.it – ​​with the mayor Roberto Assi which confirmed that Poste Italiane is currently working on a plan B: the arrival of a temporary mobile office, while waiting for the heavily damaged official one to be accessible and usable again.

Poste Italiane has communicated to the mayor the temporary closure of the office in Piazza Giovanni XXIII, to allow for restoration work. During the entire closure period, the duration of which is currently unknown, customers will be able to contact the neighboring post offices: primarily the Carugate one, in via San Francesco d’Assisi 1, open from Monday to Friday, from 8.20am to 7.05pm, and Saturday from 8.20am to 12.35pm.

“The central post office will reopen as soon as the restoration and safety work on the building has been completed – the Administration underlined – The damage caused by the explosion is extensive. Work to make the area safe began immediately” .

Precisely on this last aspect, Assi wanted to thank the teams of workers (and not only) who immediately rolled up their sleeves yesterday, Labor Day.

“I take this opportunity to thank all those who, in the hours immediately following, worked to restore the safety conditions of the area, the police forces and the emergency services who intervened promptly – declared the mayor. I had the opportunity to speak with the director and with some members of the staff, specifically regarding the temporary replacement activities. Naturally, I thanked them for their presence and for the service they provided to the community, even in this serious circumstance.”
