Stopped for an accident, reported for drunk driving and illegal possession of a weapon by the local police during an intervention following a road accident in Trecate.
The events occurred on the evening of Monday 29 April on state road 11: local police officers intervened following an independent accident: the driver of the car, in a clear state of psychophysical alteration, was found still on board the vehicle, of which he had lost control internally at the via Romentino roundabout. The man, a fifty-eight-year-old resident of Turbigo, in the province of Milan, was subjected to urgent tests to verify the use of alcoholic substances, tests which revealed a blood alcohol level of 1.88 g/l. During the checks, the officers found a 27 centimeter long switchblade inside the car door. Following these events, the man was accompanied to the headquarters in Viale Cicogna: here he was released on bail for the crimes of driving while intoxicated and illegal possession of a weapon. The knife was seized and made available to the judicial authorities.
