Istat, industrial producer prices fall in March

“In March, industrial production prices showed a new cyclical decline, more contained than in previous months, and mainly due to the fall in electricity supply prices on the domestic market. Net of the energy component, prices are stationary on a monthly basis.
On an annual basis, their easing decline reflects the negative dynamics of energy and intermediate goods prices; the prices of consumer goods show moderate growth in all markets. For construction, prices recorded modest cyclical drops; on a trend basis, their decline is slightly accentuated for buildings, while it is significantly reduced for roads”.

This is the comment from Istat, which released a statement in which it analyzes the industry’s producer prices for the month of March 2024.

In March 2024, industrial producer prices decrease by 0.2% on a monthly basis and by 9.6% on an annual basis (it was -10.8% in February). On the domestic market, prices decreased by 0.4% compared to February and by 12.7% on an annual basis (from -14.2% in the previous month). Net of the energy sector, prices grew modestly (+0.1%) and recorded a steady decline at -2.2%.

In the first quarter of 2024, compared to the previous one, industrial producer prices decreased by 3.4% (-4.8% domestic market, -0.3% foreign market).
