Descriptive text here

It’s now time for anniversaries. And of painful memories.

Exactly one month after the floods of May 2023a small publication entitled “What we have lost / What we have saved” by Maurizio Maggiani and Nicoletta Valla.

The book collects the photographs and writings of the two authors who take us back to the most excited moments of the emergency “to experience the same emotions as those who were there, those who lost a lot, if not everything, but who also rediscovered the solidarity and passion of those who don’t give up and roll up their sleeves to build a better future“.

All proceeds from the sale of the book were allocated to the regional fund established for territorial security and civil protection in Emilia Romagna.

Maggiani writes in the introduction to the book: “This little thing, this modest contribution to the support of the victims of the catastrophe that hit Romagna, is fburp of the meeting of an elderly writer who was a photographer in the last century and a young photographer who here, for the first time, tries her hand at putting her experience into written words during the endless days and agonizing nights of the flood. A singular meeting between two experiences, two ages, two cultures and two mentalities separated by half a century“.

The exhibition that inaugurates Saturday 4 May at the Bertaccini shopat 5.30 pm, will host a choice of photographs that Maurizio Maggiani and Nicoletta Valla took a year ago.

They will be visible until Saturday 8 June during the usual opening hours: 9-12.30 / 15.30-19.30. Closed on Sunday and Monday morning.

Maurizio Maggiani was born in 1951 in Castelnuovo Magra. He is a writer and journalist by profession. He currently lives in Faenza.
Nicoletta Valla He is 25 years old, studies psychology and supports his studies by working. She began taking photographs with an old Chinese Seagull camera, passed down to her from her father.
