Today Vasto welcomes the Diomedea marathon again after 31 years. Podistica Vasto, under the guidance of president Daniele Altieri, together with the Municipality of Vasto and numerous sponsors, made this long-awaited return possible.
The organizational machine worked at full speed to guarantee maximum entertainment but also safety with a concentrated program in the early morning with the competitive start at 9:00 and the races for children and young people at different distances at 10:30. with Piazza Rossetti becoming the general focus of this special edition of the restart.
“With our utmost commitment, within four months we managed to put together this 2024 edition, our intent is to restart and give continuity without any longer interruptions. We are ready to welcome with great enthusiasm the runners who have chosen to honor our event with their presence. We thank the institutions, the police forces, volunteers and all those who will be involved along the route to ensure the success of the event” explain the organizers of Podistica Vasto.
City route of 4.6 kilometers to be repeated twice for the competitive (piazza Rossetti, Corso Nuova Italia, via Asmara, via Smargiassi, piazza Marconi, viale delle Rimembranze, via San Michele, via del Giglio, via Madonna dell’Asilo, via dei Conti Ricci, viale Paul Harris, via Curtatone, via Roma, via Adriatica, via Porta Palazzo, Scalinata Porta Palazzo, Loggia Amblingh and piazza Lucio Valerio Pudente) and a single lap for walking and non-competitive.
The awards ceremony concerns the top 3 men and women overall, the top 5 in each category and the top 5 most numerous companies. At the end all participants will receive a medal and goody bag (canvas bag made with green material and containing food products).
