Attack yesterday late morning against the deputy mayor of the town of Castelli Romani, Eleonora Palone, in the historic center in the via Fleming area, not far from the municipality headquarters and near a bar, carried out by what has emerged of a out of control boy, perhaps under the influence of alcohol.
The 23-year-old, already known to the police for similar situations and other excesses, had already annoyed other customers of the bar and some passers-by, including some women. From what some present reported, when the young deputy mayor passed by, he threw himself at her, attempting a physical approach.
The young woman defended herself by pushing him away, trying to calm his altered state, but the subject was quite high, already in the early hours of the morning as reported by some citizens of the area. After a few minutes, the local police officers and the Carabinieri from the local station arrived. With the soldiers, the out of control boy, who was screaming and yelling, kicking and punching, had a violent scuffle that lasted several minutes. It ended with his arrest by the Carabinieri for resistance and violence against a public official. The two soldiers had to seek treatment in the Colleferro emergency room for the bruises suffered during the operation to calm the boy.
Solidarity from the political world as well as from the community of Artena (where there will be a vote in a month and a half for the renewal of the City Council) has reached the current deputy mayor Eleonora Palone, of the Civic List “Artena Insieme Rinasce”.
The regional councilor Giancarlo Righini, who is from Castelli Romani and lives in Lariano, declared: “Total solidarity with the deputy mayor of Artena, Eleonora Palone, victim of an attempted attack by a local citizen yesterday morning. A serious fact which must be strongly condemned and which only thanks to the intervention of the police did not degenerate. We hope that this event is not attributable to the next municipal elections and that the protagonist is not attributable to a competing list because otherwise he would risk poisoning an electoral campaign already shaken by the heavy threats received in recent days by the centre-right mayoral candidate, Tamara Latini. Our hope is that the climate will calm down and that political forces will be able to present their political proposals with full respect for people and democratic rules”.
