Melegnano: mysterious fire in the former spinning mill

Fire alarm was raised yesterday afternoon, Monday, at the former Filanda di Melegnano, where the local police intervened to put out the initial fire, which was put out in a short time without the need to alert the firefighters. Seeing smoke coming out of the abandoned area on the corner between Via Cavour and Via Trento and Trieste, around 1.30pm the inhabitants of the neighborhood reported what was happening to the local police. From the headquarters in Piazza XXV Aprile, two patrols set off at full speed and with sirens blaring, reaching the “incriminated” area in the heart of the town of Melegnano. the officers then set foot in the former Filanda, where some waste paper abandoned on the side of Via Trento e Trieste had caught fire. Precisely the area from which the smoke had been reported coming from. Using a series of fire extinguishers and with the help of the inhabitants of the neighborhood close to the city centre, the officers quickly put out the fire. However, the pile of rubbish could hardly have caught fire on its own.
