La Serpe d’Oro, music-theatre at the Mam in Monteriggioni

Saturday 4 May 2024 at 5.30 pm, following countless requests, La Serpe d’Oro and its narration of Tuscany in the last two centuries: stories will return to the monumental complex of Abbadia Isola and MaM – Archaeological Museum of Monteriggioni – Ildebrando room of emigrants, refugees and rejected people.

The extraordinary performers of La Serpe d’Oro will once again fill the MaM – Archaeological Museum of Monteriggioni with their excellent music and the humor that distinguishes them, retracing the recent history of our region.

In fact, throughout its recent history, Tuscany has had a complex and viscous relationship with migratory movements. The latter have often taken on different and multifaceted characters. But Tuscany also represented a terminal landing place for non-Italian migrants coming first from North Africa, then from Poland and Albania, finally from Black Africa and again from Eastern Europe.

Going back in time, the Tuscan lands were the scene of internal migration, with the escape from the countryside towards the industrial centers of the 1950s and 1960s. Between the end of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th, Tuscany was the departure point for its population towards distant destinations (Northern Europe, South America, North America, Oceania).

Entrance to the show of La Serpe d’Oro at the monumental complex of Abbadia Isola and MaM – Archaeological Museum of Monteriggioni is free; reservation is required.
