Negotiations between Hamas and Israel to free the hostages continue. At the moment, according to what is reported by the Wall Street Journal, an agreement appears to have been found which will be divided into two phases. On the one hand there would be a release of some hostages and on the other a ceasefire for a period of time.
War Israel, agreement on the “number of hostages held” but there are still obstacles: truce hypothesis. Netanyahu: We will enter Rafah and annihilate Hamas
The agreement
In the negotiations for the truce in Gaza there was a proposal which at the moment has not been accepted by Israel nor by Hamas. The agreement would be divided into two phases: the first would involve the release of at least 20 hostages in three weeks for an unknown number of Palestinian prisoners. The second phase would include a 10-week ceasefire during which Hamas and Israel would agree to a broader release of hostages and an extended pause in fighting that could last up to a year.
According to the Wall Street Journal lThe terrorist organization later complained that the terms made no explicit reference to the end of the war. Yahya Sinwar, the Hamas leader in Gaza, is widely seen as the main decision-maker in the talks. Hamas delegates who were in Cairo said they would consult with the military wing and other factions in Gaza ma have already reported that the proposal currently provides no clear guarantees that Israel is serious about the second phase of the deal.
