The driver of the van noticed that smoke was coming out of the air vents and stopped in time before the fire broke out in the driver’s cab.

Tragedy almost occurred this morning, April 30th, just before 9am La Rizza Roadin Verona, where a box van powered by methane which transported various materials including paper, solvents and paints it caught fire.

The driver noticed – fortunately in time – that the smoke was coming out of the air vents of the vehicle and, after stopping, he moved away from the vehicle given that the flames, that came out of the engine compartment, they were already affecting the cabin.

The firefighters of the Scaliger command arrived on site with a fire engine, a tanker and seven operators, and put out the flames using some foaming liquid. They then made the vehicle safe by cooling the methane cylinders involved in the fire with abundant jets of water and moved the transported load to verify that there were no other active outbreaks.

The operations ended around 11 am, in the meantime the traffic, managed by local police personnel, has suffered slowdowns.
