“Health cannot be used as an instrument of electoral consensus”

Senator Salvo Pogliese – regional coordinator of Fratelli d’Italia – expresses full support for the regional deputies Giuseppe Catania, Giuseppe Bica and Giusi Savarino who presented a question to the Ars having as its object the immediate and urgent implementation of the anti – electoral propaganda in the island’s health system and, moreover, they reported the case of the ASP of Caltanissetta. “A sector so important for citizens and for the services it offers certainly cannot be exploited or used as a vehicle of electoral consensus for some candidates in the next local elections which will involve several Sicilian cities on the 8th and 9th of June”, says Pogliese .

“The case of Caltanissetta – denounced by the regional deputies – appears emblematic: it appears – from electoral leaflets in circulation – that the spouse/partner of the extraordinary commissioner of the ASP is listed as a candidate for the municipal council in a municipality whose healthcare system and whose healthcare is governed by the same Extraordinary Commissioner, it is the only example of its kind, in fact the deputies have also denounced, in the province of Agrigento, conferences on healthcare with candidates among the speakers”.

“Politics needs to give a solid and sunny example. In the previous legislature, a handbook was issued specifically to counter propaganda in the healthcare world which was sent to all ASPs and prosecutors’ offices which included a series of provisions such as the ban on inaugurations in period elections, the ban on propaganda initiatives, the ban on carrying out competitions already underway. We believe, as Brothers of Italy, that action must be taken to ensure that the electoral campaign is not affected by episodes of political malpractice”.
