The deadline for submitting applications to access the concessions scheduled for equity crowdfunding campaigns which will eventually be conducted by the finalist or semi-finalist startups of Start Cup 2023the competition promoted by Lombardy regionorganized by University (Milan-Bicocca, Polytechnic of Milan, Bocconi and degli Studi di Milano) and give it Lombard university incubators and which since last year has also been supported by the public-private ecosystem MUSA (Multilayered Urban Sustainability Action) (see the press release here and the notice with details here).
The benefit consists of one warranty granted in the interest of the beneficiary startups for a maximum guaranteed amount per startup of 250 thousand eurosto partially cover equity investments made by investors who will participate in equity crowdfunding campaigns through the platform Opstart. The guarantee is granted by Finlombarda free of charge and will cover 50% of the amount of each loss on the Risk Capital Investment.
Access is guaranteed to the winning startups of the competition, i.e Displaid, Monimeds, RarEarth And Simba who are joined by the winners of the Special Awards, dedicated to Social Impact and Sustainability, i.e. PCART And VisioningAnd Vagusflex (see the press release here). In addition to these, based on the residual availability of the guarantee fund, access to the benefit will also be guaranteed to the other finalists and semi-finalists, according to the order of scores assigned in the semi-final. In detail, StartCup Lombardia 2023 finalist and semi-finalist startups in possession of the following requirements will be able to apply:
- be duly constituted companies, registered and active in the Company Register, or undertake to be so by 1 October 2024;*
- have a registered and/or operational headquarters in Lombardy or undertake to have one by 1 October.
The expression of interest in participating in the initiative must be submitted electronically by July 2nd.
Meanwhile, following the publication of the relevant notice on February 7th, they opened last March 28 the deadlines for applying to access the measure facilitation for the strengthening of production chains and regional industrial ecosystems. Applications may be submitted until the financial allocation, which amounts to, is exhausted 34 million euros total, unless extended, and in any case no later than December 31, 2027 (see the press release here). We remind you that applications submitted by supply chains which, in response to the specific request, are eligible expression of interest urged by Lombardy regionhave been included in a specific list and are therefore considered eligible to access the measures gradually activated by the Region’s Economic Development Directorate, headed by councilor Guidesi (see another article by BeBeez ). To date they have been recognized 61 supply chains that they understand over 1,344 subjects between businesses, universities, training centers and credit institutions
In recent days, however, the acceleration process of the startups that won the fourth call of the acceleration program was concluded Berkeley SkyDeck Europe-Milanwhich they collected 1.3 million euros of financing from the fund linked to the project launched at the end of 2021 byUC Berkeley accelerator, UC Berkeley SkyDecktogether with the Italian innovation hub Cariplo Factory and to the international real estate, infrastructure and urban regeneration group Lendleasewith the contribution of Lombardy region And Cariplo Foundation (see another article by BeBeez).
Start Cup, the guarantee for equity crowdfunding campaigns, the Berkeley SkyDeck Europe-Milan call and the measures to support the development and consolidation of supply chains and industrial ecosystems, are all initiatives that are part of the package of measures to support the development of SMEs and startups set up last year by Directorate for Economic Development of the Lombardy Region, led by the councilor Guido Guidesi (see another article by BeBeez ).
