the motorway reopened in the evening, investigations underway – Lavocediimperia.it

The A10 Genoa-Ventimiglia motorway between Sanremo and Taggia was reopened in the evening, at the end of the rescue operations and the movement of vehicles, after the very serious accident that occurred yesterday afternoon.

A terrible crash, due to the loss of control of a truck that was traveling towards Genoa and which, ending up on its side, literally crushed a van with a Polish license plate in which six people were travelling. The reason why the driver lost control of the vehicle and which is being investigated by the officers of the Imperia Traffic Police is still to be understood precisely.

The scene that occurred to the 118, ambulance and fire brigade operators immediately seemed very serious. Two dead and four injured, all passengers of the SUV. However, the driver of the truck suffered minor injuries and was taken to hospital in a state of shock.

For two of the six passengers on the Polish van there was nothing that could be done while two others were seriously injured. A man had both legs amputated while a woman had an arm amputated. They were taken by Fire Brigade and 118 helicopters to the Santa Corona hospital in Pietra Ligure. Two other less seriously injured people were taken to Sanremo by ambulance and under yellow code.

Traffic in the direction of Genoa remained blocked until late in the evening while it was decided to let all heavy vehicles exit the A10 at Ventimiglia (then parked at the local autoport) and at Sanremo for the others. However, many remained stranded between the toll booth of the city of flowers and Taggia and were only able to continue their journey late in the evening.

A tragedy which will be investigated by the Traffic Police and which saw the lives of 6 people who were probably returning from holidays turned upside down in an instant.
