Initial information from the accident scene indicates that the collision occurred between a car and a heavy vehicle, with fatal outcomes for at least one person involved.
The collision, which occurred in circumstances yet to be clarified, made it necessary to close the stretch of motorway involved, in order to allow the immediate intervention of the emergency services and to carry out all the necessary investigations.

He is a policeman, only 24 years old, originally from the Palermo area who was traveling in a small car. For reasons being examined by the Polstrada of S. Agata di Militello, the car driven by the 24-year-old would have collided with a lorry, which apparently was preceding him. The driver of the heavy vehicle was taken in shock to the hospital of S. Agata di Militello, for the necessary investigations.
As a precautionary measure, a mandatory exit has been established at Brolo, with the return to Rocca di Capri Leone, in the direction leading towards Palermo.
Police officers, a team of firefighters and 118 health workers were on site.
