Car “flies” into Lake Maggiore: firefighters intervene

It took 5 hours of intervention to recover the vehicle, which ended up in Verbano for reasons yet to be ascertained.

A car was recovered yesterday evening from the waters of Lake Maggiore in Suna, in the province of Verbania. The intervention, which lasted almost five hours, involved the firefighters of Verbania and the divers from the regional unit of Milan.

The alarm went off in the late afternoon of Saturday 27 April. The car, for reasons yet to be ascertained, sank into the waters of the lake not far from the small port of Suna. The Verbania firefighters immediately intervened on site, requesting the help of divers from the Milan regional unit.

The recovery operations were complex and required several hours of work. The divers dived into the waters of the lake to hook the car, which was then pulled out with the help of a mobile crane.

Fortunately, no people were injured in the accident. Arpa technicians were also present on site to monitor the environmental situation.

It is not the first time that a car ends up in Lake Maggiore in Suna. Last year, in the same spot, a musician’s car was recovered.
