Last farewell to Adriano Corvaglia, the 58-year-old worker who lost his life due to a road accident on 23 April, along the former Asi stretch, at the intersection with the former SS114, in the Augusta area while, with his son, he was returning from work.
The body was returned to the family in the last few hours after the autopsy ordered by the Public Prosecutor’s Office. The funeral will be celebrated this morning at the Parish of the Holy Family. The family members have started a legal battle, convinced that there are several points to be clarified and which could, due to responsibilities that they ask to be able to ascertain, have led to the tragic end of the 58-year-old, originally from Avola. It remains to be clarified whether there were shortcomings in the rescue efforts, as the family believes, and whether the stretch of road on which the tragic accident occurred was in the necessary safety conditions. Our gaze was then focused on the state in particular of the guardrail against which the vehicle impacted. His wife, Zaira Salerno, demands truth and justice. “This will be my battle – her words – so that no one should die passing through that route. My husband’s death must not be in vain.” Expert opinions are expected on various elements deemed crucial. Forensics would have conducted some findings and the Prosecutor’s Office appointed two forensic doctors for the autopsy. “We want to know if what happened could have been avoided – concludes Corvaglia’s wife – I have a lot of anger. What happened must certainly not be forgotten. My family and I are experiencing something so tragic that it cannot be explained. This is not right.”
