Fatal accident on the roads of Lower Garda: the victim is the young Stefano Diaferio, only 18 years old. The drama took place late on Friday afternoon, around 5.45pm, in via Galileo Ferraris in Valeggio sul Mincio, a few dozen meters from the boy’s home.
The dynamics
Diaferio was riding his scooter when he lost control of it and was thrown to the ground. For the rescue, the 118 personnel also arrived on site with the air ambulance, but the attempts to save the boy’s life were in vain: the injuries sustained were too serious, there was nothing that could be done for him. The reconstruction of the dynamics has been entrusted to the police: at the moment, no other vehicles appear to be involved.
Tears for Stefano
Born in 2006, Stefano attended the Galileo Galilei high school in Verona and raced mountain bikes for Barbieri di Valeggio, with which he was expected for a competition over the weekend: “A hug to Beppe and Janine, to Frà, to the grandparents, to all the family. Yesterday a Son flew to Heaven, a Son of ours too, a Son of SC Barbieri”, is the message on Facebook from the cycling club.
There is great dismay in the village over the sudden tragedy: the community has rallied around father Giuseppe, mother Janine and older sister Francesca.
