Foundacion de Olivar and Veronafiere together for excellent olive oil

This 21st edition of the Expoliva award saw a large number of participants, for a total of 137 samples of oils of “exceptional quality” from different parts of the world, including Spain, France, Argentina, Uruguay and Brazil, thus consolidating its historic international character. Of the more than one hundred samples, six oils have names and surnames from Jaén and have received the corresponding awards.

The Andalusian Council has given the green light to the activation of a package of measures for the relaunch of agriculture, livestock and fishing, agreed with agrarian organisations, with a budget of 500 million euros, while the Regional Ministry of ‘Agriculture is finalizing the 1st Andalusian Strategy for the olive sector.

Olive oil twinning between Italy and Spain

A novelty is the international twinning between the Expoliva Foundation Awards for Olive Growing and the Sol d’Oro Awards of Verona, the most prestigious awards of both countries. This twinning between Italy and Spain represents the initial phase of a project whose culmination will be the twinning between the cities of Jaén and Verona, as the world’s epicenters of olive oil.

This agreement, according to the Foundation, strengthens the international promotion of olive oil, consolidating the position of both cities as world leaders in tourism and gastronomy, with extra virgin olive oil as a link and common thread.

Starting from the current edition, the winners of the Expoliva and Sol d’Oro awards, respectively, will participate in both competitions and will be exhibited at international fairs: Expoliva and Vernonafiere, thus consolidating the importance and influence of these awards in the global oil sector.
