Roberto Valbuzzi gets his restaurant back on track: how he dealt with the accident

Last September represented a difficult period for chef Roberto Valbuzzi and his Crotto Valtellina restaurant in Malnate, province of Varese. A violent storm hit the area hard, causing floods and mudslides that did not spare the place, forcing the suspension of the evening service. The emergency situation saw Valbuzzi, armed with a shovel, together with friends and collaborators, work tirelessly all night to eliminate invading water and mud. The chef shared this experience through an Instagram Story, describing the intense night and thanking for the numerous messages of support received. She reassured her followers by explaining that fortunately there was no personal damage, but the restaurant did suffer from a significant amount of mud sliding down the hill above, part of the park with the caves owned by the restaurant.

A barrier of earth, logs and stones formed outside the room, which required immediate intervention. Thanks to the help of five volunteers from the Civil Protection of Malnate, in addition to freeing the restaurant, it was necessary to work to restore traffic on some local roads, particularly Provincial Road 3 towards Cantello, which was heavily hit by debris.
