SAN GIORGIO CANAVESE. It was an intense period of work for the Canavese actor Stefano Saccotelli, simultaneously on TV and at the cinema with an absolutely successful production and film. Saccotelli is in fact among the performers of the six-episode series Il clandestino, directed by Rolando Ravello, starring Edoardo Leo, which debuted on Rai1 last Monday 8th, and whose next episode will be broadcast on Monday 6th May instead of Monday April 29, to make room for Roberto Bolle’s show Viva la dance. A work, Il clandestino which saw each episode record a very high share and grow in the interest of the television audience. «A fun role – explains Saccotelli – which sees me duetting with the Kenyan actor from Chocolate Lessons, Hassani Shapi, in a misunderstanding between the protagonist and a racist condominium doorman. In a Milan with a thousand faces, Luca Travaglia or Edoardo Leo, former chief inspector of anti-terrorism who moved to Milan, works as a bouncer in nightclubs, trying to numb the pain with alcohol. The wall that Luca has raised between himself and life begins to crumble when he meets Palitha, an enterprising and over-the-top Sri Lankan who convinces him to set up an unlikely detective agency. A series that the public is appreciating and to which I am proud to have contributed.” As for cinema, Saccotelli worked on the film Zamora, Neri Marcorè’s first directorial experience, released in cinemas last Thursday 4th. «It is – he explains – a story set in Milan in the Seventies, when streaming didn’t exist, the matches they played on Sunday afternoons and we listened to them on the radio. It was great to work with Neri, who chose me to embody the classic bar fan, a character with a strong Milanese accent which, obviously, wasn’t natural for me to reproduce. I was helped by the direction of a champion and of course the city where I have lived almost permanently for a few years.” Zamora, from the surname of the great Iberian goalkeeper of the 1920s and 1930s, tells the story of Walter Vismara, played by Alberto Paradossi, a thirty-year-old accountant who, when his company closes without any warning, finds himself working for another agency. Everything would go smoothly, except that his new boss has a fixation: every week he forces his employees to compete in a single/married football competition. Walter hates football and is consequently, despite himself, lined up in goal. «A choral film – highlights Saccotelli – with the participation of the greatest contemporary Milanese character actors including Giovanni Storti and Giacomo Poretti, of the trio with Aldo, Antonio Catania and Ale and Franz».

Next May 4th, at 9pm, Saccotelli will be in San Giorgio, at the Belloc Theater, with Lei che lavoro fa?, a container where the latest short films of mine and of fellow filmmaker and fellow countrywoman Beatrice Vargiu will be shown, including our second joint work Between wife and husband, Best Horror Movie 2023, at the Miaff in Milan.
