PALERMO – Selected carabiniere Orazio Costantino remembered in Casteldaccia 55 years after his death born in 1931 in Castroreale Terme (Me), gold medal for military valor in memory, killed on 27 April 1969 in the Fiorilli district, while on duty facing two extortionists.
The memory of the policeman
The ceremony honored the sacrifice of the military hero with the placing of a bouquet of flowers at the foot of the memorial stone erected in honor of the fallen in via Carlo Cattaneo – largo Costantino Orazio di Casteldacciaand of a laurel wreath in the Fiorilli district, where the decorated man was killed.
The family members of the soldier, the brigadier general, attended the celebration Luciano Magriniprovincial commander of the Carabinieri Palermo, the mayor of Casteldaccia, Giovanni Di Giacintothe commanders of the Monreale carabinieri group and the Bagheria company, Colonel Giulio Modesti and the major Francesco Battaglia, and Lieutenant Alessia Pengecommander of the operational and mobile radio unit of Bagheria, together with the regional inspector of the national Carabinieri association “Sicilia” Ignazio Buzzi accompanied by a representation of military personnel on leave.
During the ceremony, the life of the decorated person and his motivation were read of the high honor granted, followed by a moment of touching prayer celebrated by Monsignor Vincenzo Manzella bishop emeritus of Cefalù.
