Those of carwow they managed to organize one drag racing that many were waiting for. They deserve the credit of having set up the first comparison on the quarter mile with a standing start between the Ferrari Purosangue and the Lamborghini Urus Performante. No one had ever succeeded until today. To complete the picture there is a recovery challenge on the half mile and a braking match.
Let’s start from a premise: it has a certain effect to witness a fight between vehicles from the Maranello and Sant’Agata Bolognese companies with a different nature from the classic hypercars, supercars or grand tourers. The concept of SUVs, in fact, is not naturally connected to their name. This is especially true for the “prancing horse” brand, but like it or not this is the reality. Having made this brief aside, let’s move on to a brief review of the two vehicles involved.
On the one hand there is the Ferrari Purosangue, under whose front bonnet pulsates a 6.5-liter naturally aspirated V12 engine, capable of developing a maximum power of 725 horsepower and a torque of 716 Nm, at a weight of 2033 kilograms. Grip is guaranteed by all-wheel drive.
On the other side there is the Lamborghini Urus Performante, which enjoys the thrust of a 4-liter twin-turbo V8 engine, which delivers 666 horsepower and 850 Nm of torque, weighing 2150 kilograms. Here too, the energy is discharged to the four driving wheels.
Let’s say that on paper the underdogs go to the Maranello SUV, with its more equipped team and lower weight, but the Sant’Agata Bolognese model has more torque and could have its say.
