The State Police, in collaboration with the local Public Prosecutor’s Office, has placed a caregiver under house arrest for suspected theft of gold jewelery and other precious items.

Following an investigation conducted by Public Prosecutor’s Office of Lodithe State Police carried out a precautionary measure against the House arrest towards a family carer (caretaker) 47 years old, originally from Eastern Europe.
Steals gold and precious items from elderly people
The woman is accused of take advantage of the vulnerability of the elderly people entrusted to her to steal their gold and precious jewellerysubsequently resold at gold buyers in the Lodi province.
The investigation began thanks to a series of checks carried out by the Administrative Team of the PASI Division of the Lodi Police Headquarters at some I buy gold from the province. During inspections of commercial registers, they emerged suspicious transactionscharacterized by recurring sales of gold jewelery engraved with names, attributable to elderly people assisted by the woman.
ATM withdrawals
Further investigations revealed that the caregiver had also misused the ATM of one of the victims, withdrawing several thousand euros. The investigative activity of the State Police led to seizure of stolen gold jewellery, as well as the discovery of further evidence against the woman.
