There Lazio region will issue a public notice for Municipalities who will be able to present their requests aimed at strengthening of the local police.
On the proposal of the regional councilor for the local police Luisa Regiments were allocated 2 million euros for the public tender called “Local Police 4.0.
These are not hiring new staff but rather one-off expenses specific to the strengthening and modernization of instrumental equipment.
We are therefore talking about cars and motorbikes, but also about innovative technologies. And presumably we are referring to drones, which are increasingly becoming protagonists where there is a need for territorial control.
Some local police forces in Lazio are already equipped with them and have demonstrated the enormous usefulness of this vehicle. Now they will be able to upgrade their fleet or increase the number of trained pilots.
Train agents in Lazio to drive drones
Among the items that a Municipality can include in the request for regional funds there is also the specific one of training in the use of dronesor “participation in professional training courses of a strictly technical-operational nature, aimed at obtaining the recognized certification of “Remote Drone Pilot”, aimed at an active and effective use of highly innovative instrumentation for the control of the territory and for combating illicit”.
The world of crime has been using drones for a long time to carry out the most diverse functions, from control to transport. The drone is becoming a protagonist all over the world and has become the main weapon even in the wars underway today in Ukraine and the Middle East.
It is therefore essential to train local police officers in the use of these new very powerful eyes which can be guided to the areas most subject to risk of exposure to criminal activities remotely, i.e. without directly exposing local police officers to particular dangers.
In this way it is much easier to keep a vast territory under control, including against crimes such as illegal construction or illegal practices such as the illegal abandonment of waste.

Councilor Luisa Regimenti presented the announcement as follows:
«The Rocca Council is concretely alongside the men and women of the local police of Lazio with precious resources that were not provided since 2014 and which will be useful for modernizing the equipment available to the officers and for training aimed at the use of drones . We have developed these measures in close collaboration with the Technical-Advisory Committee of the Local Police reactivated last year, a sign of renewed attention towards those who work in the area on a daily basis”
«The tasks of the local police have gradually expanded over time, with heterogeneous, transversal and constantly evolving skills. Allowing agents to work in the best possible way means helping mayors respond to the growing demand for decorum, safety and legality which comes from the citizens of the Municipalities of Lazio”.
