Today, Sunday 28 April, the curtain rises on the first stage of the Italian Slalom Championship in Loceri, an event that promises spectacle and adrenaline. This year, the seventh edition of the Loceri Slalom, hosted by the streets of Ogliastra, will see the participation of 62 pilots from all over Italy. The competition is organized by Scuderia Ogliastra Racing in collaboration with the Sardinia Region, the Municipality of Loceri and Arbus ProMotors. This race not only opens the season of the Italian Slalom Championship, but also counts for the ACI Second Zone Cup and the Sardinia Regional Slalom Championship. Among the entrants stand out well-known names such as Salvatore Venanzio, who will drive a Radical Sr4 powered by a Suzuki E2SC 1600 class and will try to defend the title he won last year. There will be no shortage of caliber opponents, such as Luigi Vinaccia, multiple Italian champion, and Salvatore Arresta, making his debut in the Italian series with a Formula Gloria B5 Evo 1150.
The race will also see a strong local representation, with riders racing on various prototypes and categories, from Francesco Marrone on Osella Pa/9 Alfa Romeo to Daniele Vacca on M02 Yamaha. The competition promises to be heated also in Kartcross, with drivers such as Giovanni Beccu and Giuliano Puddu who will compete for the podium. This year, the race will also be the subject of a scientific study conducted by the University of Cagliari, which will examine the safety and performance of drivers using sensors to detect exposure to noise and vibration.
Furthermore, the technical checks of the cars took place on Saturday 27 April, introducing the new single technical check, which will simplify procedures for drivers throughout the season. The competition will begin with a reconnaissance heat at 9:30 am, followed by three more heats. The day will end with the awards ceremony in Nonnu Melis square, where the winners of this exciting day of competition will be celebrated.
