Modena, 28 April 2024 – It was there in every foto on social media, a companion on short and long trips. Unfortunately, it was precisely on that motorbike of hers, her great passion, that her life came to a halt yesterday. She was only 22 years old Matteo Paganelli, the young man from Savignano who died yesterday afternoon in a terrible accident that occurred in Guiglia, in via Passo Brasa. When the 118 health workers rushed to the scene, unfortunately for the young man there was nothing left to do: the impact with a car coming from the opposite direction was too violent. The injuries sustained by him were fatal 22 year old who was thrown from the saddleflew several meters before falling back to the ground, off-road. The driver of the car, a 60-year-old, was uninjured transported for checks to Vignola hospital.
The terrible crash occurred around 4pm yesterday afternoon on the state road 623 “del Passo Brasa”, at km 35, in the locality “ippocampo Sofia”, in the municipality of Guiglia, a section immediately closed to traffic to allow rescue operations to operate.

The motorbike on which Matteo was traveling crashed head-on into the vehicle coming from the opposite direction it caught fire because of very violent impact. The boy’s body was precisely thrown meters away from the clash.
The 118 health workers rushed to the scene with medical vehicles and ambulances, the firefighters – who immediately put out the fire -, the Anas staff, the Marano carabinieri, who provided support for the traffic and the local police, who took care of of the reliefs. The 22-year-old died instantly.
Matteo was very young and yet in Savignano, on the border with Marano Sul Panaro he had been managing his own farm for some time. The mother works for the village school and the family is well known.
Yesterday, upon hearing the news of the young man’s death, all of Savignano was plunged into the deepest grief and the community rallied around the family.
“I knew him because he was a farmer in Savignano – says the shocked man mayor Enrico Tagliavini –. But we all knew him a little in the village and the news of his death shocked us. Despite being very young – says the mayor – he had started his own business, with an agricultural company. I saw it in the countryside to prune, to work, he put himself on the line and for a boy of that age it’s not easy. We are close to the family, as always. On these occasions you never know what to say. We were astonished as a community: Matteo had attended school in Savignano, I was a gymnastics instructor in primary school I saw him when he was still a child. Not long ago I joined him in the field: they had left rubbish on his land and we stopped to talk. His death shocks us.”
Investigations are now underway by the local police establish the exact dynamics of the crash and to shed light on yet another road tragedy that occurs in our area and which has taken yet another young man from his life.
