Savona – It could have been the overheating of the semi-trailer brakes due to the fire of a Spanish articulated lorry this afternoon, at the Savona motorway toll booth. The driver of the heavy vehicle noticed the smoke coming out of the rear part of the truck and managed to take the Savona-Vado junction, stopping in the clearing in front of the former Punto Blu building.
Firefighters and traffic police arrived there and began to put out the fire and diverted traffic. The maneuver of the truck driver, an employee of the Carreras Grupo Logístico of Zaragoza, avoided serious repercussions on traffic, since, if he had remained on the motorway, the fire would have led to its closure, resulting in long queues. Instead, arriving on the toll plaza, only the Telepass lanes had to be closedbut traffic was not affected.
The driver also managed to unhook the tractor from the semi-trailer, fearing that the flames would reach the cab and the tank. Firefighters put out the fire that had engulfed the cargo compartment. The truck was transporting animal food.
