Yesterday, Friday 26 April, an accident on Via Gramsci involved a 30 year old citizen of Lanuviodriving one Peugeot 208. The man lost control of the vehicle, crashing into two parked cars, causing material damage. The intervention of the Local Police was immediate, directed by Commander Sergio Ierace, who took the 30-year-old to their offices for the necessary checks.

The alcohol test to which the driver was subjected revealed a blood alcohol level above 1.5 gm/l, well above the permitted limit. Consequently, the Local Police proceeded with the seizure of the vehicle and the withdrawal of the driving license, as well as filing a complaint with the Public Prosecutor’s Office of Velletri for further measures.

The commander of the Local Police Sergio Ierace expressed his concern regarding the driver’s behavior, underlining the seriousness of the action: “It seems serious that the relevance of actions of this type has not yet been understood. Driving a vehicle in this state means having a vehicle that is out of control which can cause victims and irreparable damage.” Ierace urged citizens to respect the rules of the road code, reiterating that these laws were created for everyone’s safety. “Putting one’s life and that of others at risk for causes like this is truly foolish. To live in peace, the rules must all be respected, this is equivalent to being socially united and protected”, he added.

The Security Councilor, Mario Di Pietro, thanked the Local Police for their rapid and concrete intervention to protect citizens: “The action of the Local Police is essential to maintain order and security in our municipality. We are grateful for their dedication and professionalism in ensuring a safe environment for all,” declared Di Pietro.

The accident caused significant property damage to the vehicles involved, but fortunately there were no serious injuries. This incident serves as a reminder to all citizens of the importance of driving responsibly and the risk involved in driving while intoxicated. Local authorities will continue to closely monitor road safety and take necessary measures to prevent similar accidents in the future.
