Luke Whitehouse showed all his technical and competitive calibershowing off a masterful square exercise to the Rimini Fair. The young British champion put in a display of quality, shining with the technical difficulties he brought to the competition (6.5 D Score) and warming up the audience above all with a Tsukahara twist and a triple twist of excellent workmanship. The 21-year-old Halifax native was awarded with a score of 14.866 (8,366 for execution) and that’s it confirmed European Championdefending the title he won twelve months ago in Antalya.
Luke Whitehouse has beaten the Israeli champion Artem Dolgopyat by 33 thousandths (14,833, 6.4 the starting note), which he paid at a very high price one step off the platform (one tenth penalty) in the early stages of the race. The Tokyo 2020 Olympic Champion and reigning World Champion was beaten just like last year and it was due settle for silver (the fourth continental on the ground), postponing the appointment with the third career seal in this specialty.
The bronze medal goes to the Hungarian Krisztofer Meszaros (14.600, 6.3 for difficulty), who performed first and managed to party.
